Reflection about Kahoot, Animoto, Quizlet and Socrative

Reflection about the 3 sessions




Students:

-Laura Katerine Diaz Sepúlveda- 24- Biologist.
-Jhonnathan Diaz Sepúlveda- 26- Business Administrator.

Tools: Kahoot, Animoto, Quizlet, Socrative.
Topic: Regular and Irregular verbs. 

In the first session, I decided to apply the Kahoot digital tool with the purpose of making an acknowledgment of the previous ideas that the students had about the subject, in this case the regular and irregular verbs through six questions.
None of the students had knowledge of the digital platform so, first I told them about the tool and its respective use.
In this session, the students were very motivated to do the activity because they are very competitive and they like to be always learning, however, they were a bit scared because none of them has a deep formation in English.
In general, the activity was very interesting because it helped to remember the past of some of the most common verbs in English (regulars and irregulars)

In the second session, I decided to apply two digital tools with the students. The first tool that I worked with them was Animoto, with this tool the students didn't do any kind of activity about the subject but, I did a formal introduction about the topic that we developed in the 3 sessions, that is, the regular and irregular verbs. For that reason, I decided to show them a video in Spanish about the concept of verb, its types and its modifications depending on the time. 
After watching the video, the second tool was Quizlet. From this tool the students strengthened their knowledge about the subject through different activities that this digital tool offers. In addition, at the same time the learning of each student was evaluated.
In general, this session was very enriching because the students acquired new knowledge about the subject through Animoto and they applied them through the activities in Quizlet.

In the third and final session, I decided to evaluate the students' knowledge about the subject through the Socrative digital tool. First, I told about this tool and how to use it. This session was the shortest but very enriching because I could show the whole process through the different tools on the same subject.






In general, I think it was a significant experience for me because I put my creativity to the test when I prepared each digital tool and relating them to each other. In addition, I feel that I achieved the proposed objectives because I could show that the process of the 3 sessions was enriching for the students and for me.
The students agreed that the tool they liked most was Kahoot, since it offers people to learn through a game where they have to compete as well as their design, their music and the ease of use.
In conclusion, as a future teacher it seems essential that we update each day and go hand in hand with technology. We are in a digital era where every day something new comes to the market that benefits us in many aspects of the way, including education. Therefore, as teachers we should not stagnate nor stay with traditional teaching methodologies, on the contrary, the professor as a researcher must reflect on his practice and every time improve in his teaching methodology.
With the result of this process it's evident that learning takes place in different ways and not only through the transmission of knowledge in a masterful way, where the teacher is the figure of authority but the student is autonomous in their learning process with the help of different digital tools like the ones I used in my sessions.  In addition, with the use of these digital tools spaces of motivation for students are created because they learn in a fun and not forced way.
